چکیده

PID Lead-lag tuning formulas are derived for integrating unstable processes based on proposed modified Internal Model Control (IMC) structure. The structure extends the standard Internal Model Control structure for stable processes to unstable processes. To achieve better output response, even in the presence of load disturbance a second order low pass filter is inserted in the loop to reduced mismatch between process and model. An advantage of the structure is that set-point tracking and disturbance rejection can be easily done. Denoising methods are presented to cope with measurement noise, a first order low pass filter is inserted in the loop to denoise the output signal.

The System Identification and PID Lead-lag Control for Two Poles Unstable SOPDT Process by Improved Relay Method

This paper describes identification of the two poles unstable SOPDT process, especially with large time delay. A new modified relay feedback identification method for two poles unstable SOPDT process is proposed. Furthermore, for the two poles unstable SOPDT process, an additional Derivative controller is incorporated parallel with relay to relax the constraint on the ratio of delay to the unst...

A Unified IMC based PI/PID Controller Tuning Approach for Time Delay Processes

This paper proposes a new PI/PID controller tuning method within filtered Smith predictor (FSP) configuration in order to deal with various types of time delay processes including stable, unstable and integrating delay dominant and slow dynamic processes. The proposed PI/PID controller is designed based on the IMC principle and is tuned using a new constraint and without requiring any approxima...

A unified approach to the design of advanced proportional-integral-derivative controllers for time-delay processes

−A unified approach for the design of proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers cascaded with firstorder lead-lag filters is proposed for various time-delay processes. The proposed controller’s tuning rules are directly derived using the Padé approximation on the basis of internal model control (IMC) for enhanced stability against disturbances. A two-degrees-of-freedom (2DOF) control s...

PID controller frequency-domain tuning for stable, integrating and unstable processes, including dead-time

In the present paper a new tuning procedure is proposed for the ideal PID controller in series with the first-order noise filter. It is based on the recently proposed extension of the Ziegler–Nichols frequencydomain dynamics characterization of a process Gp(s). Measured process characteristics are the ultimate frequency and ultimate gain, the angle of the tangent to the Nyquist curve of the pro...
